The arts are usually recognized as therapeutic tools to treat different personal, emotional and cognitive disorders and, therefore, their use is recommended in different areas of professional, work, educational life and even as a therapeutic method. For this reason, the objective of this research was to analyze the implications that theater has on emotional, personal, and cognitive variables, and for this purpose a descriptive, quantitative, cross-sectional design is proposed. The sample was made up of 31 people who agreed to participate in the study, people dedicated to theater (n=16) and people who are not dedicated to theater (n=15). The results indicated that there are no significant differences between the cognitive abilities assessed such as memory (verbal and visual), attention, reasoning, working memory and processing speed. The cognitive profile of the theater people indicates that the scores are within the average or mean of the scores, which means that they are within the normal ranges. Social skills, psychological satisfaction and empathy are also above average. These results could strengthen the idea that theater could benefit the maintenance of cognitive capacity and social skills within normality.
